The photo above is one I took of a poster in Wengen, Switzerland advertising the Jungfraujoch - Top of Europe which I have adapted with some extra writing. The burning log is not part of the poster but in front of it.
You can learn more about this in my latest post on Travel Tales
The next photo is a wonderful reproduction of an old poster advertising the railway that I photographed at Wengen railway station.
Finally although not a sign I am including today the photo which I am using for my header during February 2012, as I have been asked where it is. It is a view of part of the Jungfrau Range of mountains with the Eiger on the left of the photo and the Monch in the middle, of this photo which is not cropped like the banner photo has been.
Today I am joining the following meme for the first time as it seemed appropriate.
Wow, that last one is truly beautiful! And I like the second sign, too :)
ReplyDeleteI like what you did with the first sign.
ReplyDeleteAnd I love that poster - those people look like they are just out for a stroll! Imagine.
Gorgeous pictures. Love the log in the first one - I really thought it was part of the poster!
ReplyDeleteThis is another nice meme. There are so many these days that I don't know which to choose,LOve those signs in your photo's, great idea.
ReplyDeleteVery beautiful photos, amazing lights, I love those snowy views. My secret photographs are on display in the photo. Greetings.
ReplyDeleteI thought the header was breathtaking, but the uncut version is even better!! And the retrospective of railway ads is interesting! The styles have changed, but they all mean the same thing!

ReplyDeleteLove the way you positioned the burn on top of the log in front of the poster! Very nice shot! And the second poster was a wonderful one as well. Thanks for sending me an email about your header picture and explaining about it in this post. It's SO beautiful! Thanks for coming by my blog also. Switzerland is such a gorgeous country!
ReplyDeleteI visited Switzerland in the 80's - your post brought back wonderful memories. I like the Jungfrau Range shot.
ReplyDeleteHi Linda,
ReplyDeleteThis post brought back some lovely memories of the half a dozen or so Summer walking trips we took to this region of Switzerland.
We stayed in Interlaken, at both the Beau Rivage and Victoria Jungfrau hotels, went to the top of the Jungfrau on the train on several occasions and your spectacular shot, just about sums it all up.
Trips to the Schilthorn, Trummelbach Falls, Wengen and Grindelwald, to name just a few are fondly remembered and I can just picture us there now.
The best experience for us, was when we took our 2 nieces (then aged 18 and 13) with us for a week. The look of amazement and joy on their faces was worth every penny we spent and to this day, they both rate it as their best holiday experience ever.
Maybe we shall get back there again one day ....
Majestic! Great photo.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous images and I really like the vintage-style poster.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your visit and comment on my signs last week. Sorry to be so slow in returning.
Gorgeous captures of the mountains, I really enjoyed my visit to Jungfrau and Switzerland! Thanks for visiting my blog.
ReplyDeleteVery beautiful and thanks for telling me that this is Jungfrau.
