  2. Greetings! I am so glad you stopped by my blog because it lead me to yours. My dream is to move to Italy once we become empty-nesters...so I am just going to live vicariously thru you until that happens :) I am your newest follower. Looking forward to seeing some beautiful photography from Italy (my most favorite place on Earth).

  3. I've enjoyed hazelnut candies while in Europe. I've never seen the actual nut before!

  10. Mmmmm, looks delicious. Our Pecan tree, is beginning to drop their shells/nuts, but the squirrels have been in sight. It'll be a race to who gets there first. As with every year.

  18. Oh yum, your very own fresh, local hazelnuts! What do you do with them, do you roast them or put them in anything or just eat them raw?

  20. That's a lovely image!

Lindy, I'm sorry about the pop ups, several readers have also complained. I don't see them because my computer (and McAfee, I suppose) automatically blocks them. Try to block the URL, maybe it helps.

  21. There are tons of filbert (hazelnut) orchards around here in Oregon. Oddly it seems to me because our climate couldn't be more different.

Once years ago (when we had our house here), I was campaigning for a local issue -- going door to door -- and I walked over to some people who were working in their yard -- turned out they were harvesting their filberts off the ground and I stomped on quite a few (I didn't know -- and of course never did that again). (And they probably voted against whatever it was I was working for).

  22. Hi Linda, Very lovely photo!

Our hazelnuts are ripening now and the ground is littered with them because the squirrels basically strip the tree every year. Our tree is huge and the entertainment value from the antics of the squirrels more than makes up for the nuts we don't get ourselves!

Hope things have cooled off a bit for you there.
