Blue Moon

It was fitting that The Blue Moon on Friday August 31, 2012 coincided with the day that a funeral service was held for the first man on the moon, Neil Armstrong. It is Blue in name only, the phrase is used when there are two full moons in one month, the first was August 1st. I took a series of photos on Friday evening of which I have shared two with you here.

I was inspired so it seems appropriate to share them on NF - Inspiring Photography

  1. I love your moon shots, my camera only shows (if I am lucky) a small spot in the sky. Sad that Armstrong should go due to complications in surgery, but as you say fitting that the service was when there was a blue moon. Have a good week Diane

  10. Those photos really are wonderful Linda, especially that last one. You did really well to capture that. As you say fitting that it occurred on the same day as the funeral of the first man who actually walked on that same moon, Neil Armstrong! Hope all is well with you.

  12. I went outdoors on the 31st also, got some photos but nothing quite as terrific as yours. I don't know when I'll find time to post them, but I must say I really like what you captured.

  14. Great photo! I truly regretted not posting about it. We watched the first moon landing on our B&W TV when we were newlyweds living in a little garage apartment. I even wrote down some of the funny things the astronauts said. It was uncanny that Neil Armstrong would die so close to the blue moon. It seemed just for him!

  15. I also admired the beautiful blue moon last Friday night. The warmth and serene brightness infused itself into my heart and reminded me of that great Armstrong.

  17. Fabulous moon pictures Lindy - the clouds make it a bit mysterious. It is really a tribute to Neal Armstrong that the Blue Moon would happen on his funeral day. My daughter was born just a short time before his history-making walk. A great piece is history. Thanks for sharing.

  20. When I was a kid I used to wish the moon really would go bright blue. I imagined it would look like blue a glass marble in the sky!
