ABC Wednesday - D - Doorway - Marta -Italy

ABC Wednesday is a meme that I have joined in sporadically over the years. I was hoping that this time I would catch the start of the round, but I missed it! Never mind here I am for D and I will continue to join in as often as I can.

D was an easy one for me as doors are something that I am always taking photos of! The doorway that I have featured here today is one that has caught my eye for years now. There are more photos of the same  door in my archives, but these were taken in June when I was last in Marta, Italy.  Just love the characterful  additions!

Faces on Friday - Set in Stone - Marta - Italy

My photos for my theme ' Faces on Friday' are perhaps not quite what you expected me to post! However as I have always been intrigued by these 'Faces Set in Stone' that are mounted on the railings next to the Fishermens Beach in Marta I thought it would be fun to share them with you here.

Nobody I have spoken to in Marta knows anything about them. If anyone from there, or anywhere else in the world, knows anything about these particular face sculptures please do let me know.

This little girl was taking part in the Corpus Domini Procession on Sunday 22nd June 2014 in Marta. She was not at all sure about the experience as you can see from her expression.  More photos of this celebration can be viewed on my Travel Tales blog.

I have just returned from a trip to Italy, the first time since the death of my husband last year. I felt it was time I faced my demons, a difficult trip with lots of sad moments, smiles as well though as my friends and neighbours in Marta were so very welcoming. Whilst I was there I of course took the opportunity to add to my photo collection, which I will enjoy sharing with you on my blogs. 

Somehow this is so much more attractive than an ordinary letterbox, what do you think?
