Final Post For Now! - Faces on Friday - Buddhist Monk - Waiting For Sunset - Bagan - Myanmar
I love photography and have enjoyed posting on this blog for over three years now. However having recently discovered Instagram I find I am posting more and more of my every day shots there instead of here! In a way this is sad but it is a fact that blogging and media sharing is a forever changing experience. Time seems to be forever shrinking with so many interests to enjoy. It seems to me that the posts here are more frequently than not ones I could easily have published on Travel Tales and in fact photos often appear on both blogs.
Also I have always enjoyed taking part in Photography memes and they were one of the initial reasons I set up a separate photography blog. This side of the blog has been neglected recently and when I do post I am certainly not visiting the number of participants that I feel I should be doing. I will still be visiting my blogging friends but via Travel Tales and will continue to follow back those of you that follow me.
Therefore I feel considering all this it is time to make a change! The plan is to continue with my themed posts World at Work and Faces on Friday but instead of publishing them here they will appear on Travel Tales. In fact I will repost the most recent ones there to introduce the idea to readers that do not follow this photography blog.
I am sincerely hoping that my followers here will keep in touch with me via Travel Tales and maybe Instagram as well. It is thanks to your encouragement, appreciation and support in recent years that I continue to blog.
Keeping my options and therefore this blog open as I may well be back posting photos here again soon!
If you have not yet seen my posts about my trip to Myanmar in December 2014 and would like to take a look, here is the link to the first one in the series. Yangon - First Impressions of Myanmar

Faces on Friday - Bubbles - Hong Kong
This little girl I photographed in Hong Kong was enjoying blowing her bubbles. She obviously considered it a very serious business, as she was concentrating very hard.

Faces On Friday - Buddhist Monk and Family - Yangon - Myanmar
In Myanmar there is a long tradition of temporary ordination of Buddhist monks and married men can traditionally return to the monastery from time to time, provided they have their wives' permission. As seen in this next photo, where the wife and daughter are proudly walking along behind this monk. This photo previously appeared in my post entitled Yangon - Further First Impressions of Myanmar - Burma on my Travel Tales blog.

Faces On Friday - World at Work - Ferry Ticket Office - Myanchan Jetty - Mandalay - Myanmar
A couple of weeks ago for my World at Work feature I posted photos of the famous Star Ferry in Hong Kong. I came across this photo when I was writing the next post for Travel Tales which is about a trip to Mingun from Mandalay. It struck me just how very different the World of Work is for these young ladies in comparison to those Hong Kong Ferry Sailors.
The second photo is of my daughter and myself with the 'Tourist Police', there to make sure everything went smoothly and that we caught the right ferry! They were very keen to be photographed with us, they are so excited that more people are now visiting their beautiful country. I thought it made a good subject for 'Faces On Friday'
Please visit my Travel Tales blog if you are interested in seeing more photos of the trip to Mingun.

Faces on Friday - Set in Stone - Marta - Italy
My photos for my theme ' Faces on Friday' are perhaps not quite what you expected me to post! However as I have always been intrigued by these 'Faces Set in Stone' that are mounted on the railings next to the Fishermens Beach in Marta I thought it would be fun to share them with you here.
Nobody I have spoken to in Marta knows anything about them. If anyone from there, or anywhere else in the world, knows anything about these particular face sculptures please do let me know.

Faces On Friday - Little Angel - Italy
This little girl was taking part in the Corpus Domini Procession on Sunday 22nd June 2014 in Marta. She was not at all sure about the experience as you can see from her expression. More photos of this celebration can be viewed on my Travel Tales blog.

Faces On Friday - Cheroot Smoking Lady - Myanmar
During our travels in Myanmar we often saw ladies smoking cigars, technically Cheroots, as they are a cylindrical cigar with both ends clipped during manufacture. During our visit we did in fact on another occasion see them being manufactured, but I will save those photos for another post. Although also smoked in other countries cheroots are most commonly associated with Myanmar by the British, maybe because smoking them was so widespread in the colonial days. They also feature in George Orwell's novel Burmese Days and Kipling's Mandalay. The photo I have shared today was taken during a visit to Maha Muni Pagoda .
I have posted more photos from this visit on my blog Travel Tales in the post entitled Mandalay - Part Two - Impressions of Myanmar.

Faces On Friday - Monk at Shwedagon Pagoda - Myanmar - Burma
Those of you that read my Travel Tales blog will know that at the moment I am posting about a trip to the beautiful and interesting country of Myanmar. The people are very friendly and I added many people portraits to my collection. Today for Faces on Friday I feature another portrait from Myanmar, a Monk at the Shwedagon Pagoda. This lovely smiley gentleman approached my daughter and me, as Westerners we soon discovered that the Monks love to chat and use their often excellent English. We had a long chat to this one and he was more than happy to pose for us. If you are interested in seeing more photos from my trip, do please consider following Travel Tales

Faces On Friday - Shopping in Yangon - Myanmar - Burma
I was fortunate to visit this fascinating and beautiful country recently and I came home with thousands of photographs, plenty of material for this regular Friday post. This photo also appears in my first post on my Travel Tales blog about the trip that I have just published. Yangon - First Impressions of Myanmar - Burma
Are you grateful not to have to carry your shopping home like this? I certainly am, although I am sure it would be good for ones posture!

Faces On Friday - Fishermen - Hong Kong
On my daily walks exploring Hong Kong I often came across the fishermen that seem to spend all day down at the Harbour fishing, just like these two. Neither of them had caught anything for me to photograph this time, but they enjoyed seeing their photos.

Faces On Friday - On The Ferry - Hong Kong
When I was last in Hong Kong visiting my daughter we took a public ferry that just operates on Public Holidays and at the weekends from Sai Kung Pier to Yim Tin Tsai a deserted island, which is now a tourist attraction. I plan to write about the island for my next Travel Tales post.
Our fellow passengers I think make interesting subjects for Faces On Friday. If I was a writer I think they would be a good starting point for a story!
Update March 18th 2014 I have now published my post entitled Yim Tin Tsai - Abandoned Island - Hong Kong
